Encoder Fault

Encoder returns abnormal or unexpected pulse response.

Immediately stop compression, open completely. Resume normal operation at start of breathing cycle.

Visible alert on screen and High Priority tone.

Check for normal arm movement

Check for obstruction

Consult manufacturer.

Revert to manual ventilation.

Low Battery

Battery level drops below nominal charge.

Continue normal operation.

Visible alert on screen and Medium Priority tone.

Connect the LycoVent to mains power supply.

Mains Power Disconnected

Ventilator is no longer running from mains power/ switched to battery.

Continue operation on battery.

Charge icon no longer visible.

Visible alert on screen and Medium Priority tone.

Connect to mains supply when possible.

Unit has limited running time on battery and will need to be monitored.

Max Motor Load Exceeded

Over Current Fault detected by motor controller.

Immediately stop compression, open completely. Resume normal operation at start of breathing cycle.

Visible alert on screen and High Priority tone.

Check for obstructions. If problem persists, consult manufacturer.

Revert to manual ventilation.

System Fault

Failure of internal system components – motor, sensors, power, switches.

Attempt to continue normal operation

Visible alert on screen and High Priority tone.

NOTE: Failure of pressure sensor will cease operation of LycoVent

Check for normal operation and observe any concurrent alarms.

Consult manufacturer.

Revert to manual ventilation.

Watch Dog Alarm

Failure of the main controller,its pressure sensor or over-travel of Paddle arms.

Depends on source see Section 4.0 Patient Safety

This is very unusual alarm and implies failure of critical sensor or system.

Ventilator will continue to operate if possible to minimise risk to patient till arrival of clinical team.

Revert to manual ventilation and contact manufacturer.

Zero Speed Fault

Motor shaft motion is not detected by the encoder.

Immediately stop compression, open completely. Resume normal operation at start of breathing cycle.

Visible alert on screen and Medium Priority tone.

Check for obstruction

Consult manufacturer.

Revert to manual ventilation.
