The LycoVent is not suited to patients with severe Adult Respiratory Distress Syndrome in the later stages of their disease who may require airway pressure release ventilation (APRV) mode or extracoporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) ventilation from a sophisticated Intensive Care Ventilator.

It will be the decision of the supervising clinician which patients are best suited to the LycoVent in the event an ICU ventilator is unavailable.
