Altitude Compensation

< 1 min read

In line with the requirements of ISO 80601 the LycoVent has been designed to deliver the nominated volume of air/oxygen mixture at Body Temperature and Pressure Saturated (BTPS). Being inherently a volume delivery device it will deliver the nominated volume at any altitude. The flow measurement sensor however is a mass flow device and as the mass of gas in a given volume will vary with altitude the sensor reading needs to be calibrated for the altitude.

The V04 version of the LycoVent has been calibrated for the altitude at the intended site where the supplied unit will be used. Before relocating it to a site at a different altitude it is necessary to contact the manufacturer to arrange remote recalibration. It is important that this is done as the flow readings on the screen will not be accurate and the alarm system will not operate as intended.

Future versions of the LycoVent will have provision to automatically recalibrate based on atmospheric pressure at the site of use
